Clinical Reasoning, Differentiation and Management

Lumbar and Hip

16 Continuing Education Hours (1.6 CEUs)

  • This course includes a research-based physical therapy approach to the evaluation and treatment of individuals with lumbar spine and hip related pain.

Pre-recorded video lectures and supplemental reading material are provided prior to the live course to ensure participants have foundational knowledge before engaging in the live-course. This structure maximizes the effectiveness of live sessions by allowing participants to delve deeper into complex concepts, engage in meaningful discussions, and spend more time on hands-on skill development.

We will provide a clinical reasoning foundation to help participants become more efficient in their examination and treatment selection.

Our live course covers examination techniques, how to differentiate hip vs. lumbar driven pain, therapeutic exercises, joint mobilization, and thrust techniques tailored for the lumbar and hip regions.

Case examples utilized throughout the course aid in the understanding and clinical application of the concepts presented.

  • Apply a sound clinical reasoning model to the examination and treatment of patients with lumbar or hip-related symptoms.

Recognize historical and clinical signs and symptoms which may require referral.

Perform a comprehensive screening examination for patients with lumbar or hip-related symptoms.

Identify “why” and “when” to implement various examination and treatment techniques.

Implement evaluation and treatment techniques recommended by the most recent clinical practice guidelines.

Demonstrate proficiency with manual therapy techniques including thrust and non-thrust techniques for the thoracolumbar, lumbar and hip regions.
